By popular demand, a guide to whatever the hell it is I'm talking about

Galen Munro: human male.  Veteran of the Seventh Demon War of Juncture, doctor in the barony of Holten, license restricted to minor sentient species and non-sentient species (vet, essentially).

Boot: Ksantae Oram, also known as Boot Oram or Boot Arm.  Galen’s best friend and a casualty of the Demon War.

Sgt Hessel: Galen and Boot’s Sgt in the war

Meese: tiny rodent like sentient species that can teleport (inate ability)

Juncture: the largest city, the city at the center.  The focus or nidus for thousands of planes, which all blend, messily, in and around the city.  These planes are constantly in flux - and time, space, technology, and magic vary with them.

Demons: monsters of evil, from a plane people aptly call Hell.  Although sentient, they are heartless creatures that live only to destroy, and have tried to conquer Juncture several times.  They vary widely in shape size and appearance and some people think no two are alike.  Are surrounded by an aura of terrror regardless of what they look like.

Spawn: demons servants, also vary in shape but are generally smaller than demons, not as powerful, and don’t bleed off as much terror.

Holten: a barony, governed by Medwyr Holten and his family.  In a land twice removed from Juncture, that is, you have to travel through two planar borders to get to Juncture (which isn’t as far as it sounds) Mostly highlands and foothills, small towns and villages.  Technology is largely shunned by the populace.  Populace is mostly human with some Pla, a small Daere (‘elven’) settlement, and a few Aerlown (‘elven’) and some other races scattered in.

Trent’s How: the village Galen practices out of, and the one he was raised in.

Mr and Mrs Arven Dale: farmers, creela and sheep

Dervis Cahl:  sheep and goat farmer

Creela: domestic animal raised for wool and meat, from the same world as The Pla

Stafford: shirereeve (sheriff) of Trent’s How

John: local dragon

Eibrei (Eibron, singular): a type of serpent-like flying dragon

Amulet of Saint Bened: glows when demons are near, etched with a bird in flight

Threedee: slang for brand name for “Die Demon Die” products

Geraint: human male of Trent’s How, miller

Nwyvre: human female of Trent’s How, baker

Moern: ditto

Varyf: human male of Trent’s How, weaver

Ederyn: half-blood (human/Daere) male from the elven settlement by Trent’s How

Elves: term used broadly for almost any graceful sentient ‘humanoid’ race with pointy ears, which usually insults the hell out of most of these races.  Races so termed include the Silas (classic elves, fled from one world through Juncture and found refuge in another, have a very long history in Juncture but have been removed from it for a couple centuries), also Arama (similar to thin humans on the short side, tend to get heavily into technology, many have excess cyborg implants, are jacked into the Connect; also Aerlown, who aren’t very elf-like really, tall thin with blue skin of various shades, hairless, with high cheekbones, tend to have intricate scrolled tattoos and scarification along with delicate implanted skin jewelry (tiny gems, dust), tend towards quiet intellectual pursuits (Issa is of this race); also the Daere elves, who are simple folks who tend to live in the country, shun city life and therefor live mostly in the outskirts of Juncture and sparsely populated planes, quite human-like in some ways and quite different in others, tend to wield a little magic and can cross breed with humans and Silas (but are then sterile) (Ederyn is a half-blood Daere).  Also about half a dozen other races of ‘elves’.  Only Silas elves are considered a major sentient race (even though they are now rare in Juncture proper).

Issa: female Aerlown.  Galen’s former boss and mentor, retired to Juncture after spending many years as a doctor in Trent’s How

Eus: A Daere of Trent’s How, a young man of some psionic talent, estimated at level 4 but he has never been officially tested.

Leire:  Eus’ father.   Andunae: his mother. Merei: His sister.

Bonham’s Gate: another town in the barony of Holten.

Talsen: a middleaged man of Trent’s How, likes to tell tall tales and is known for ‘exaggerating’

Wedrein: a short human man of Trent’s How, farmer but also serves as undertaker, of sorts.

Doctor Gunson:  human man of Trent’s How, serves as doctor to the humans (while Galen sees everybody and everything else)

Mayor Morvran Tegidsown: mayor of Trent’s How.

Haeredown: a valley near Trent’s How

Tash, Lucus, Ferus: Galen’s dogs, giant deerhounds.

Holten Towen: seat of the barony of Holten.

Altered/ UnAltered: ‘altered’ refers to any modification beyond how nature created a person, usually used to describe someone who has had genetic manipulations or modifications, or someone who has had cybernetic implants.  Amount of alteration can be measured and is usually given as minor or major altered, although precise percentages of alteration can also be used to describe it.  ‘wild-type’ is a person who is completely unaltered, especially genetically, and has no family history of genetic alteration.  Wild-type humans are fairly rare in Juncture, though more common in the Outskirts.

Bidcom tissue healer: injectable preparation of one of the lines of tissue healers; Bidcom is the major company that makes these products.  Tissue healers can be injectable or dispensed as adhesive tissue patches for superficial skin wounds, or can be painted on in a gel/ paste form for deeper wounds.  In any form they accelerate and streamline natural healing, cutting the time for a wound or injury to heal by as much as 80%.  various types of tissue healers are used for different types of wounds (muscle, gut, organ injury, bone injuries/ fractures).  Also, tissue healers must be tailored to the species being treated, although there are broad-spectrum tissue healers that can work for most human-like races; they might work a bit slower or sometimes cause unpleasant side effects.

The Pla: a large humanlike species.
