Galen's story
Well, National Novel Writing Month has rolled around again. NaNoWriMo 2005 is upon me. I've decided to go for it again this year, since Winds is done. Probably a very foolish decision, because I'm scary busy at work - going out of country one week, out of town the next, a gazillion projects when I am in town and a busy duty schedule on top of it all. But, what the hey.
This novel is about Galen - "Galen's story" is the working title. (Has absolutely nothing to do with Kyur other than he has a cool name that really fit my character) I guess I'm not too imaginative when it comes to working titles: Tyagi's story, Possum's story, Galen's story. I always have to see what becomes important in the book. I've signed up under PinkCthulhu on the NaNoWriMo site again this year.
Here's the website for the new novel.
Galen is a medicomagical xenopathologist that specializes in vectored curses. Setting is Juncture (Possum's world). So far I've got a pretty good overall plot, an outline for the prologue and book 1 (estimate about 25k words for book 1), and a vague plot for book 2. Prologue is from the Demon Wars, book 1 is in the outskirts of Juncture, and book 2 will mostly be in Juncture proper.
I'm excited.

The website has been updated. The entire novel is on it, and the first edit is done, so this is techincally the first draft now, not the rough draft that's been up. Several things have changed, but nothing huge yet. I'm still working up the courage to take the edit-axe to it. I'll probably let it sit for a bit first.
I've already started to move on to the other novel I've been working on, Possum's story. I can't even remember how long I've been working on that one, and I forgot how much I absolutely loved the character of Possum - and what a complete smartass he was. Glee! (Blam Blam Blam! "Cheat to win!!" [cackle])

I'm done.
November 1, 2003 to April 25, 2005. Not too bad, I suppose, considering everything else I did in there.
It's a rough draft. I'll post it this week, and I've started editing and revising already. Many names I was never satisfied with will change. Little details and some big details will change, already have changed in my edited version that hasn't been posted yet. I'm not sure if I have the fortitude to do the major revisions the story probably needs.
I'm pleased with the ending. I'm proud of Tyagi, who by now seems like a very close friend. He did better than I thought he would.
When I first started this story, Tyagi was pretty much how I left him after chapter one - a wreck. That was Tyagi as I first thought of him, and how I thought he would be at the end of the story. He did better than that, and we moved way past that sorry fate I first had in mind. It's not the end of his story, oh my no, he has a lot to do. But I was able to bring him, as a person, to a better place, to bring him full circle, a person changed for the better, in many ways.
If you have read it, I hope you enjoyed it.

I'm almost done.
Chapter 42 suffered a major, painful rewite today. But chapter 43 will be the end of it, the last chapter.

The novel as written to date has been posted on the new website:
Tyagi's story
I'm in chapter 40, I think.

Hey, I bet you thought I'd never get back here.
So did I.
Life settled down. Tyagi and Hawk bothered me until I started writing again. I've made a lot of progress, several chapters, and am past where I intended the end of the novel to be. It didn't seem right to end it there, though, and so I am wrapping up some loose ends, and trying to resolve some of Tyagi's character issues. I'm very pleased with how it's turned out so far. Haven't posted it yet, but will soon. Cheers.

Well, the novel has pretty much screeched to a halt. I'm busy with a new job, I moved, and life generally blows red greasy chunks. So - what I wrote in the last post still goes, and I'll try and get back to poor Tyagi someday.

Wow. Guess I haven't posted in a while.
The novel is on the slow track now, due to a very busy period, and I don't see that getting any better. I'm in chapter 32, I think, and have a good idea of what goes on in the rest of the story, but just no time to sit down and write it all. I'll keep trying to get it out there.

Still going very slowly. Christmas stuff has taken away a lot of my time to write. Also, EQ is sucking my soul, but I don't actually mind that much. Three out of four characters leveled this week, so there (yeah - evil Nkai didn't level - poor bastard).
Redid a lot of chapter 26, by going back and adding a couple things that it needed. Part of my problem right now is I know the next few chapters will (hopefully) kick ass, and I'm afraid to screw it up, so I'm dragging my feet writing the damned thing. I'm in ch 27.
